I’m not joking when I say I pick my brides just as much as they pick me. Kaylie is seriously the sweetest person, and I know we’ll stay friends for life. From our very first meeting I could tell we had a lot in common, and I immediately felt connected to her and her fiance Patrick. They left my studio and I don’t think an hour passed before I got the message that they wanted to book me. At the engagement session they actually brought me a huge box of macarons, and a bottle of Rose (you know the way to my heart is through the belly, right?), and we finished the night with a little wine and fun talk. Kaylie is so lucky to have found a guy who is equally as awesome as she is.

1. When is the wedding, how many guests, what are the venues?

Our wedding is August 4, 2018– almost 300 days, eeep! We are estimating around 300 people will attend our wedding. Our ceremony will be help at Church of the Assumption in Downtown Saint Paul. The church is a gorgeous Catholic church, founded in 1856– over 150 years old! Our reception will be held at InterContinental Saint Paul Riverfront hotel.

2. What has been the most stressful part of wedding planning?

The wedding planning process has actually not been too stressful for me. We have a longer engagement of almost a year and a half and I began planning right away. If I had to pick one thing, I would say making sure everyone is happy. I am a people pleaser but I am also extremely type A and particular so making all of that work and still getting exactly what Patrick and I want has been my biggest challenge.

3. What are you most excited for for the wedding day?

I am excited for SO many things! I am most excited to show Patrick my dress. I usually tell him everything right away, especially when I am really excited about something so it has been so incredibly hard to not tell! Having a secret for over a year is one of the most difficult things!

4. Biggest tip you’d give to someone about to have their engagement session?

Relax! Poly makes the session so much fun, it is not something to get worried about! The pictureswill turn out better than you could ever imagine! Also, don’t be afraid to wear something bright so you stand out. I wore a bright red lace dress and I am so happy I did!

5. Favorite thing about working with Poly?

Poly is an absolutely amazing photographer. Right after meeting Poly and then again after our engagement session, Patrick and I were so thankful and pleasantly surprised by the passion she has for her job and how much she sincerely cares about you as a couple. It is very clear Poly loves what she does and puts in everything she can to get the perfect photos that truly capture the emotions, I think that is extremely unique and not something many photographers can do. Oh, and her sense of urgency is so amazing! We received our photos so quickly (sneak peaks at 1am the night of our session!) and we are completely in loved with just about every single one!

BONUS: Any additional tips?

The wedding planning process is a lot and sometimes it can be easy to forget to have fun! Yes, we all want our day to be perfect, something right out of Pinterest, but remember it should be about celebrating the love of you and your fiance!
